The Healing Drum Solstice Retreat over the June 20-22 weekend was a roaring success! We began the event Friday evening with drum making and medicine bag making classes. We had several people making drums for themselves, but our teacher also brought extra supplies. She had taken on the task of making 10 drums each for two different tribes, with proceeds going toward the retreat fund for kids.
Many of us pitched in, and over the course of the evening the synergy of the group grew stronger. We teamed up, and the drums came together quicky. In all, we managed to build 17 drums that evening. At midnight we called it an evening and retired, knowing that the bell would sound at 7:30 for breakfast.
The next day we offered lectures and meditations on energy healing and being in flow with our spiritual guidance. Most of the attendee’s were so busy with drum on Friday evening that we offered an additional class on Saturday. The outcome: many beautiful medicine bags, all thoughtfully crafted and filled.
Sunday continued with the same tone of spiritual awareness, and a class on using EFT as a tool in self-healing. We concluded the day with a trip to the Trading Post, a fantastic shop for drum making supplies just minutes from the retreat center. Field trip!
The question was raised: when is the next Healing Drum retreat? The weekend of September 19-21, 2008. Since this weekend is a solstice weekend, we will focus on the harvest. We now have a blog dedicated to The Healing Drum retreat’s.

The Healing Drum Retreat is scheduled for June 20-22, 2008 in Yelm, Washington.
Our first Healing Drum event was a success, with a good turnout and a lot of enjoyable activities for everyone. This event will be even bigger, and better, bringing in our experience from the December 2007 event. This event is a weekend long event, lodging and meals included, in Yelm, WA.
We’re still planning and scheduling, but here are some features we plan to include:
- Drum Making class - if you are interested in making a drum please contact us no later than June 15, 2008 to reserve your spot. We may have kits available for last-minute signups, but cannot guarantee. This class will be held Friday evening, June 20th at 6pm, finishing by 9pm. Your drum may be dry for use on Sunday.
- Medicine Bag Making class - Friday evening, June 20th, starting at 7pm. Come early to see the start of the drum making class!! We will have a medicine bag meditation, blessing and practice session for self-healing using your personalized medicine bag on Sunday.
- Opening Meditation - the meditation at the December event was a big hit, everyone enjoyed the chance to release and relax. We will have a brief meditation Friday before the drum making class, and an opening meditation on Saturday.
- Summer Solstice Prayer - this meditation and prayer was written by Estee, with steps each person can take to express gratitude and appreciation for all the season has to offer.
- Gratitude Ceremony - this will be a new feature, giving everyone opportunity to offer their wishes to Great Spirit and the Spirit realm, dream through materialization.
- Drumming and Song - led by Tahwakeena, our drumming leader and drum making teacher.
- EFT basics - taught by Estee, this basic energy movement and healing tool is anything but little
- Awareness and Release workshop - taught by Estee, this class will focus on connecting and centering, two powerful steps toward awareness and empowerment
- The Sound of Silence - Finding self in a noisy world, lead by Tahwakeena.
- Using your Medicine Bag - Self Healing meditation and ceremony
- Energy Healings - Chakra / Aura healing, Reiki, Quantum Touch
- Clairvoyant Readings - Estee will be available for sessions ‘by the minute’
