What can I say? There’s articles posted now, as I type, at the Healing Drum Retreat website. In fact, there will be 10 articles altogether, each one focusing on one of the many areas covered at the retreat!

First there is Discovery, and I was very surprised to see what was covered in that little insight!

Second is the Equinox. Did you know that day one of the March 20-22, 2009 Healing Drum Retreat is on the spring equinox?

Next we have Energy Healing, which comes in many forms. What’s healing all about, and why is it so intriguing? Estee will cover this energetic topic!!

What comes after all this healing energy? Well, when you’re feeling the flow of your own energy there is a lot more room in your heart for all that Creativity you have to offer.

Let’s not forget to turn inward and take a walk on the totem side. What exactly is a Totem Animal, or totem spirit? Are they the same?

Wow, it’s a good thing this event is all weekend, there’s so much we have already covered! What’s next? Hmmm, we’ll see. There’s still five more postings over the next few weeks, and we don’t want to spoil the surprise!

The cost? $170. That covers the workshops and activities as well as your meals and lodging. What? That’s it? Well, if you want to make a drum or moccasins on Friday evening you’ll need another $115 to $135 for the kit. Those attending the weekend retreat are welcome to attend the Friday workshops as observers, though you might also get a chance to lend a hand.

The Fall 2008 Healing Drum Retreat was a smashing success. We made many drums, each with their challenges, but in the end they each resonated beautifully with their maker. Drum making is an amazing event to watch. The creator works through their challenges with the skin, stringing carefully yet firmly, not knowing how the drum will sound when it dries. We were all amazed with one particular drum that had a booming resonating voice as rich as the big ceremonial drum.

We decided to skip the December solstice and offer the next Healing Drum Retreat on March 20-22, 2008. Friday evening will be dedicated to checking in for those distant travelers, and a drum making class for those who are ready for their own drum, or want to make one as a gift. A gifted drum is a beautiful expression. We will have supplies available for making drum beaters as well as other traditional items.

Saturday and Sunday will be filled with insightful and empowering workshops and activities for the mind, body and spirit. We will, of course, have drumming and singing times during the event. This next retreat is in honor of awakening, the spring cycle in the earth cycles. We will talk of awareness, creating the future, and resolving the past.

The Healing Drum retreat is offered at Brighton Creek Conference Center in Yelm, Washington. Brighton Creek has been a gracious host for this event, and several of the residents have attended parts of our retreat, especially the group drumming! We look forward to this upcoming event. This event is open to all, is non-denominational, and is affordable. Cabins sleep six, and the meals are great!

The entire event is only $160, and that includes lodging Friday and Saturday, and meals Saturday breakfast through lunch Sunday. The drum making kit or moccasin making kit and class are extra. You are welcome to attend the Friday evening event as an observer and share in our storytelling. Weather permitting we will have a campfire Saturday night, with our story circle.

The Healing Drum Retreat is scheduled for June 20-22, 2008 in Yelm, Washington.

Our first Healing Drum event was a success, with a good turnout and a lot of enjoyable activities for everyone. This event will be even bigger, and better, bringing in our experience from the December 2007 event. This event is a weekend long event, lodging and meals included, in Yelm, WA.

We’re still planning and scheduling, but here are some features we plan to include:

Drum Making class – if you are interested in making a drum please contact us no later than June 15, 2008 to reserve your spot. We may have kits available for last-minute signups, but cannot guarantee. This class will be held Friday evening, June 20th at 6pm, finishing by 9pm. Your drum may be dry for use on Sunday.
Medicine Bag Making class – Friday evening, June 20th, starting at 7pm. Come early to see the start of the drum making class!! We will have a medicine bag meditation, blessing and practice session for self-healing using your personalized medicine bag on Sunday.
Opening Meditation – the meditation at the December event was a big hit, everyone enjoyed the chance to release and relax. We will have a brief meditation Friday before the drum making class, and an opening meditation on Saturday.
Summer Solstice Prayer – this meditation and prayer was written by Estee, with steps each person can take to express gratitude and appreciation for all the season has to offer.
Gratitude Ceremony – this will be a new feature, giving everyone opportunity to offer their wishes to Great Spirit and the Spirit realm, dream through materialization.
Drumming and Song – led by Tahwakeena, our drumming leader and drum making teacher.
EFT basics – taught by Estee, this basic energy movement and healing tool is anything but little
Awareness and Release workshop – taught by Estee, this class will focus on connecting and centering, two powerful steps toward awareness and empowerment
The Sound of Silence – Finding self in a noisy world, lead by Tahwakeena.
Using your Medicine Bag – Self Healing meditation and ceremony
Energy Healings – Chakra / Aura healing, Reiki, Quantum Touch
Clairvoyant Readings – Estee will be available for sessions ‘by the minute’
