Choosing a singing bowl seems to be both a tonal quest as well as a matter of personal choice and taste. With all things spiritual we recognize the energy or “spirit” of the object. Stepping into anything, such as the use of a singing bowl, should begin with honor, and before we convey any sense of honor to an object or another person we must first resonate with the tone of honor within ourselves.
This video gives another example of a singing bowl and how to measure and weigh all the characteristics of a singing bowl.
This is a good example of an older style of bowl that is recognized by that very flat bottom. Bowls like this are almost always very well made, with a consistently good alloy. Using a good hefty weight as here, in a 7′ bowl, guarantees a good strong lip with a vibration-free edge, and a note with great body. Notice the systematic hand-hammer marks.
