The Sacred Medicine Wheel

The wheel turning in what we know as a clock-wise direction is much older than any clock we see with numbers and multiple hands.The medicine wheel seen with its direction: the movement of the seasons and the cycles of the spirit in this worldly experience.  We begin with the north, the winter and the origin of any cycle. Then we turn to the east with the dawning, the spring, and the awakening. Next there is summer to the south, the blossoming and intensity of growth. Following the summer we have fall, the harvest of both food and knowledge, seen to the west. Finally we return to the zero point, the beginning to the north. This is the sacred medicine wheel, containing great knowledge that grows into wisdom.

Direction of the Wheel

Is the sundial the story behind the turning of our clocks and the direction of the medicine wheel?  Do we turn to the right to move forward, and to the left to look back?

Pendulum Healing and Direction

I’ve worked with pendulums for many years primarily out of curiosity. I love to see how different tools work for us on a spiritual level as well as working with the energies and magnetic pull of the earth. I’ve used a pendulum for clearing and preparing a topic or place, and I’ve seen that rotating to the left is healing and clearing, releasing or decreasing. A rotation to the right is moving forward but mostly energizing.

The Direction We Face

Is there a right direction? Let’s go back a moment to what was just said. “The right direction”?  Is that right as in direction, or right as in “the best” or “correct”.  The yin or feminine is seen on the left, and since the feminine symbolizes an inward and the being aspect then it could be seen as looking back or seeing that we are complete. The yang or masculine is about movement, and we never do move backward, only forward.  Between the two we have balance, the virtues of both moving together in harmony.  The yin gives us purpose and meaning, the yang gives us movement and composure.
